Henry Holland x Levis

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

DJ/model Leigh Lezark stars as the face of Henry Holland’s newest collaboration with Levis Jeans! Leigh just keeps getting better, and better with her look. The shots are both cute, and simplistic. I really like ‘em! Your thoughts?

Oh Miu Miu

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

The swinging sixties.  Channeling the modern Edie Sedgwick, Miuccia Prada displayed provocation with class for Miu Miu Fall 2010.  Sexy ultra micro mini dresses with tulip shapes, high collars came down with striking thin bows on sheaths, and a color palette of black, nude, purple, and tangerine went down the runway.  The narrow, short silhouette made an erogenous zone of twiggy legs elongated by square-toed pumps.  The linear, Edie Sedgwick, pre-hippie sixties have been popping up with increasing frequency as the Fall season comes to a close. This collection put Prada squarely in the center of things, but, as usual, with her signature perverse twist.

McQueen knock-off…

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

This Topshop dress is by no means a carbon copy of Alexander McQueen’s, but it is very clear that the people at Topshop were moved—just as much as the rest of the fashion world was—by the late designer’s “Plato’s Atlantis” collection.

So they made a dress “inspired” by the one McQueen sent down his SS10 runway on Amanda Laine’s back.

You can “channel your Space Age supermodel in the baroque print dress,” but the zany print is not nearly as offensive as the fact that Topshop went ahead with production after Alexander McQueen’s passing. Pretty tasteless, no?

Lindsay + Purple Fashion

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I’m sorry, but can anyone else see the irony in this cover. Nevermind the fact that she’s dressed like Jesus, and that the concept surpasses many levels of BERZERK absurdity, but the fact that she even has a cover, random!

The cover was shot by Terry Richardson, so of course you’ll expect high-end, fashion raunchiness. Photos of Li-Lo bending over, squeezing her breasts, and smoking ciggys while donning looks by Chanel, Miu Miu, and Givenchy. Found it all to be quit tasteful, however, I would of enjoyed it way more, had they not chosen Lindsay. She’s hands down fashion eye candy, but then you have to stop and think, is that all that she’s good for? At the end of the day, Lindsay is a media whore, always in the spot lights, so Purple chose the right girl, in a marketing skills aspect. The shots were very mad max, sexy, and minimal. Here is a little clip of behind the scene of her shoot with Terry Richardson for this month’s issue.

But, to end this on a good note, she looked great.

Maison Martin Margiela: the Exhibition in Munich.DE

Vanessa’s adventure to the Margiela exhibit in Munich, Germany provided us with further inspiration and a push to think outside the box for the SS10 Mens and Womens collections….

*above is an oversized “BIG MOMMA” dress form used to create and drape Margiela’s signature oversized tops and calculatedly misshapen garments…

*above are all of the office keys to the Maison Martin Margiela atelier….stronghold of cataclysmic creativity  since the 1980s…
